This should not be a question. Recent media reports state that flossing our teeth is no longer recommended nor required for a healthy smile. National organizations such as the American Dental Association and the National Institute of Health claim the research data is outdated and the sample sizes are too small with unregulated parameters to scientifically justify flossing our teeth on a daily basis.
My research over the past 15 years tells me the complete opposite. Patients who floss daily exhibit healthy teeth with very limited dental needs. Patients who neglect the need to floss have three times the dental problems.
This irresponsible reporting by the drive by media is unfortunate. Common sense will hopefully prevail. We all know there is no scientific data recommending the use of toilet paper, but when used, the end result is better.
